Logo vs brand identity: what a growing Rwandan business needs
The difference between a logo and a brand identity, and how to decide which one your business in Rwanda needs right now.
A logo is one piece
Your logo is the mark people recognise: on your shopfront, your app icon, your invoices. It matters a lot, but on its own it cannot make everything you publish look like it comes from the same company.
A brand identity is the system
A brand identity adds the colours, typography, imagery style and layout rules around the logo, usually documented in brand guidelines. It is what keeps a social post, a billboard and a pitch deck consistent, even when different people make them.
Which one do you need?
Just starting, testing an idea, or working mostly through WhatsApp and word of mouth? A well-made logo with a simple colour palette is often enough for now.
Hiring, raising money, opening a second location, or producing a lot of marketing? That is when a full identity pays for itself, because consistency builds trust and saves time on every new piece of content.
Either way, design the logo so it can grow into a full identity later, without starting over.
